Brits Give Back

Fender have donated a unique hand-painted Union Jack guitar to be auctioned for the benefit of LA's BEST. This guitar will be signed by the players from the LA Galaxy and other celebrities.



Wednesday, May 7: As part of Brit Week 2008, British Consul General Bob Peirce and his wife Sharon Harroun Peirce opened the official British Residence in Hancock Park to the children of LA's BEST After School Enrichment Program. Sharon, a member of LA's BEST Governing Board, taught the children table etiquette in conjunction with LA's BEST Chef, a program which seeks to educate youth about nutrition, cuisine, and good dining manners. As part of their etiquette lesson, the children were served a meal at the Residence.

Thursday, May 8: Acclaimed Executive Chef at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills Ashley James, who is also British, welcomed the LA's BEST children into his kitchen for a day of culinary activities. The BEST Chef program also includes field trips to a local culinary arts academy and various restaurants and venues where students will have the opportunity to learn more about exciting and creative career possibilities in the hospitality industry.

LA's BEST (Better Educated Students for Tomorrow) is a nationally recognized after-school education, enrichment and recreation program serving more than 26,000 children with the greatest needs and fewest resources throughout the City of Los Angeles. LA's BEST After School Enrichment Program provides a safe haven for children (ages 5 to 12) at 180 elementary school sites each day during the critical hours after school, all at no cost to parents.
