Food & Drink
Britain is a great place to eat. Traditional British cuisine dates back centuries and is known for its simplicity, honesty of flavor and a reliance on high quality natural produce. Roast beef, smoked salmon, game dishes, hearty stews, meat pies, cakes, desserts, bangers and mash, Sunday roasts and afternoon teas are all world famous. Fish and chips has long been a British favorite, and here in Los Angeles British executive chef Ashley James at the Four Seasons offers a wonderful interpretation of this popular dish. He also offers a traditional British breakfast, as does Gordon Ramsay at the London West Hollywood and many British pubs in town. A full British breakfast will set you up for most of the day.
The British are food crazy. Even the smallest villages have their own local pubs where you can find home-cooked meals. Modern British cuisine incorporates international flavors alongside traditional British specialties. Cooking shows proliferate on British TV. Chefs are superstars. Some, like Nigella Lawson, Jamie Oliver, Robert Irvine and Gordon Ramsay, are well known faces on US TV too.
To help us celebrate, leading restaurants and hotels in the LA area will feature British delicacies during BritWeek. Pubs and tea room will also participate in the festivities. Check back soon for further details!
