BritWeek Red Carpet Launch

An exclusive Champagne Reception at the British Consul General’s Residence will launch the 5th Annual BritWeek. The invitation only event will also celebrate the upcoming Royal Wedding, and will include a special display of wedding gowns by famed British designer Bruce Oldfield.

Bruce Oldfield Wedding GownBruce Oldfield graduated from St. Martin’s School of Art in London in 1973 to critical acclaim, and after multiple successes the Bruce Oldfield label was born two years later. The fashion house began by producing ready-to-wear collections for European and American stores. Bruce began making couture clothes in 1978 for individual clients, and from 1980 for the late Princess Diana.

Bruce Oldfield GownIn 1984, Bruce opened his first shop selling ready-to-wear and couture to an international clientele, and in 1990 was awarded Officer of the British Empire (OBE) for services to The British Fashion Industry. He has designed for films and dressed many celebrities, including Sienna Miller, Rihanna, Elizabeth McGovern, Jemima Khan, Catherine Zeta-Douglas, Taylor Swift, Kelly Brook, Anjelica Huston, Bianca Jagger, Tina Chow, Barbara Streisand, Jerry Hall, Diana Ross, Liza Minnelli, Faye Dunaway, Vanessa Redgrave and Melanie Griffith, among others. He has also dressed HM Queen Noor of Jordan, designed the wedding dress for her successor, HM Queen Rania, and continues to count many members of British and European royalty and aristocracy as his regular clients.

Three fabulous recipes created specially for BritWeek's Royal Wedding Themed Red Carpet Launch

The Blushing Bride
1 oz. Bombay Sapphire
½ oz. St. Germaine Elder Flower Liqueur
2 oz. Pomegranate Juice
¼ oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
3-4 oz. Martini & Rossi Prosecco
Garnish: Lemon Twist
Glass: Champagne
Shake first 4 ingredients with ice and pour into a champagne flute. Top with prosecco and garnish.

The Royal Berkshire 1½ oz. Bombay Sapphire
1 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
¾ oz. Basil Simple Syrup
3 oz. Club Soda
3-4 Muddled Strawberries
Garnish: Lemon Wheel & Basil Leaf
Glass: Tall High Ball
Muddle Strawberries with basil simple syrup and lemon juice. Add ice, Bombay Sapphire and stir well. Add more ice, top with club soda and garnish.

The Monarchy Fizz
1½ oz. Bombay Sapphire
10 Fresh Mint Leaves
½ oz. Monin Ginger Syrup
½ oz. Lime Juice
Top with Ginger Beer
Garnish: Fresh Mint
Glass: Tall High Ball
In a tall high ball glass, muddle mint leaves and ginger syrup. Add ice to fill glass. Add Bombay Sapphire and lime juice. Top with ginger beer. Stir thoroughly and garnish.
