The eyes of the world will focus on California from April 24 – May 7, 2012, marking our sixth anniversary!
BritWeek 2011 (held April 26-May 11) was our best yet. Launched in 2007 with a few select events, BritWeek quickly expanded in scope to become a springtime fixture on the Los Angeles calendar, and within two seasons evolved into a landmark festival celebrated around the state.
In 2011, thousands of people attended a myriad of arts, entertainment, cultural, business, social and charity events in and around Los Angeles, Orange County and San Francisco. With nearly 350,000,000 broadcast, trade, print and online media impressions internationally (including a special segment on American Idol), BritWeek has truly gone global!
THE celebration of British excellence in California, BritWeek (a non-profit organization) operates with cooperation from US and UK government entities, leading businesses and local organizations of all sizes to produce a stellar line-up of events for every budget and inclination. The program features art & design, film & television, music, theatre, literature, science & technology, fashion, retail, cuisine, pro sports, vintage cars, business innovation awards, star-studded red carpet receptions and charity galas, museum exhibitions…and the list expands each year!
In addition to events of wide-ranging interest, BritWeek presents a number of signature programs, each with a specialized focus. The BritWeek Film & TV Summit, presented by leading entertainment publication Variety, is devoted solely to the industry that launched Los Angeles. The highly anticipated annual BritWeek Gala Dinner honors notable public figures and raises critical funds for important causes, and is attended by an extraordinary roster of dignitaries and celebrities straight out of Who’s Who.
BritWeek also plays an important role in promoting bilateral business relations. The BritWeek UKTI Business Innovation Awards recognizes outstanding contributions in design, service provision and technology by companies with operations in the US and UK. Key business relationships have stemmed from this prestigious competition.
From celebrity soccer with the LA Galaxy to cutting edge art and fashion shows, from rare exhibitions of a centuries-old Magna Carta on loan from Oxford University to Interior Design Awards offering training scholarships abroad, from major concerts with renowned British musical artists to live printmaking demonstrations to High Teas and pub events, BritWeek presents an unparalleled celebration of British contributions to the US-UK Special Relationship.
We look forward to seeing you next spring. Watch this space!
