BritWeek2010

In only its fourth year, BritWeek was bigger and better than ever in 2010. Thousands of people attended dozens of events in and around Los Angeles, and for the first time BritWeek also had a program of events in San Francisco. New additions to the BritWeek repertoire included interior design, with a very successful program at the Pacific Design Center on April 28th, and the first ever BritWeek UKTI Business Innovation Awards, where three companies were recognized as leading Innovators in Design, Technology and Customer Services. Our fine art program was more extensive than ever, and once again we had highly successful film and TV, sports, music and fashion events, and numerous British stores and brands participated in our BritWalks in Orange County, Greater Los Angeles and San Francisco. We thank all who supported BritWeek2010, especially our sponsors.

ART & DESIGN
BritWeek2010 had a strong focus on Art and Design.

The BritWeek Group Art Show was held across several galleries stretching from downtown to Venice. Exhibitions represented a range of genres and styles and featured works by British artists Emma Ferreira, Tobias Keene, David Hockney, Gordon House, Marcos Lutyens, Patrick Procktor, Pete Stern & Joe Tilson.

Cutting edge and traditional British designs were showcased at two separate events at the Pacific Design Center, the premiere west coast facility for luxury interior design products.

The daylong Salute to British Design, co-sponsored by the Pacific Design Center and Luxe Magazine, featured a Leading British Designers Keynote Panel with world-renowned designers Nina Campbell, Peter Dunham, Kathryn M. Ireland and Martyn Lawrence-Bullard; book signings; British couture; high tea and the opening reception for portraitist Sacha Newley. Jaguar’s newest models were also on display.

The British Design Invasion panel discussion examined the many ways British designs have influenced the World market.

Christopher Farr, at the spearhead of contemporary rug design for over twenty years, is credited with revolutionizing the industry and creating a brand new art form. The gallery held an Afternoon Tea especially for BritWeek.
